Titusville Police have arrested a local man responsible for the burglary of the downtown City of Titusville Welcome Center where approximately $3000 worth of high-end bicycles were stolen.
On Sunday February 24th 2019 at 9:45 AM, Titusville Police responded to a report of an overnight burglary at Coast-to-Coast Bicycle Company, a retailer within the Welcome Center, located at 419 South Hopkins Avenue.
The preliminary investigation revealed surveillance footage of the suspect entering the store through an attached public restroom door at approximately 2:00 AM Sunday morning. The suspect entered and exited the business several times stealing 7 bicycles with the assistance of an unidentified male accomplice.
The suspect was located at the intersection of Harrison Street and Hopkins Avenue, positively identified and arrested without incident on Monday, February 25th 2019 at 1:00 PM.
Omar Rashaw Sims, 36, of Titusville, was arrested and charged with five felonies: 4 counts of Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure and 1 count of Grand Theft.
The accomplice is still at large.
Sims is being held at the Brevard County Jail on a $22,000 bond.
